About

I'm a software engineer in Australia, originally from Poland. I've spent 15 years building systems. How information gets structured, stored, retrieved. How knowledge survives contact with reality.

What I'm building

Seven years at Atlassian watching Jira and Confluence at scale left me with strong opinions about knowledge tools. They force a choice between rigid structure and freeform chaos. Neither works. Jira tickets go stale. Confluence pages rot.

Binder is my answer. It's an open knowledge engine where your data lives locally in plain Markdown files, backed by a real database. Humans edit in any text editor. AI agents get a structured CLI and API. Schema evolves without migrations. Structure emerges from how you actually work, not from how a product designer imagined you would.

First version shipped in 2022. Learned a lot, rebuilt from scratch. Current version launched early 2025. Open source, MIT licensed.

Background

Seven years at Atlassian across Jira plugin ecosystem, then billing and payments. Head of Engineering at Lyrebird Health, a medical AI startup. Senior Staff Engineer at SEEK. The common thread: data modeling, developer tools, and making complex systems usable.
